Seventeen-year-old Hannah Edwards, up from last year’s GB Under-16 Team, was the headline star, as she pitched a one-hitter, faced just one batter over the minimum, and also drove in what proved to be the winning run when GB finally broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Taylor Leads her team: SJ Lady Sharks to 12u World Series Championship in Reno Nevada!
That’s right 1st year travel 12u (fresh out of rec) Taylor waits several days to get her chance in the circle. Once she was given the opportunity to lace up her cleats and prove she has what it takes to win. The pitching circle in Reno was never the same after that. It was all but over, hard as they tried they couldn’t shut her down.
Six straight games between Friday and Saturday – roughly pitched 40-innings allowing only enough runs to help her team win. That means when the game got tough, this young pitcher reached down inside to lead her team. That must have been impressive.
With a Solid defense behind her – combine that with a catcher that understands her pitchers ability, you’ve got a winning match. Taylor understands it’s all about that out. Doesn’t need to be strike-outs, just get the out… So Out after out Taylor, her catcher added with great defense- they just kept to it. The parents of the players were awe struck! Inning after inning, out after out, then game after game until it was done. To come all the way back from the losers bracket isn’t just something every team can do.
It takes leadership.
Wow wish I was there to see that.
Congratulations to everyone!
This is one very proud pitching coach, thank you to all my students for allowing me the privilege to work with each and everyone of you.
GB was led once again by pitcher Hannah Edwards, who threw a complete six-inning game, struck out nine and chipped in with two of GB’s eight hits.
GB Head Coach Johanna Malisani,
“This was a great team win. We played some good defense and we were aggressive on the bases and at bat. We played a good game against a good club.”
GB goes down 4-0 to Italians
-GB out-hit the Italians 5-4, and GB pitcher Hannah Edwards struck out seven Italians, just one less than Italian pitcher Chiarra Marazzi managed against a much-less experienced GB line-up. Both pitchers threw complete games, and both teams left four runners on base. Read more- 4-0 loss
